Planning tips

  • Rishikesh is the usual starting point for the Badrinath and Kedarnath roads, so it is a natural first night of a Himalayan yatra.
  • The evening aarti at Triveni Ghat in Rishikesh and at Har Ki Pauri in Haridwar happen around the same time — pick one per evening.
  • Monsoon (July to September) can close the hill roads beyond Rishikesh; check before planning onward travel.

Temples to plan around

Distances are measured by road between the city centre or main shrine, and times assume normal traffic. Festivals, weekends, weather and road works can change both. Train timings change too — please check current schedules close to your travel date.
