Temples in Maihar

Maihar is a town in the Satna district of Madhya Pradesh, and the temple of Maa Sharda on Trikut hill above it is one of the most visited shrines in the state. The climb is by a long flight of more than a thousand steps, or by ropeway. Maihar is also known in Indian classical music as the home of Ustad Allauddin Khan and the Maihar gharana.

Best time to visit: October to March. Both Navratris are when the temple is most visited.
